A full set of lash extensions is designed to last as long as your natural lashes do. Each extension is bonded to a single natural lash, so when that lash sheds, the extension goes with it. Most people shed a few lashes every day as part of their natural growth cycle, which is why a set slowly thins rather than falling out all at once.
the short answer
Your set thins gradually rather than all at once. After a couple of weeks you will notice gaps as your natural lashes shed and new ones grow in.
what shortens a set
Oil-based skincare and makeup removers are the biggest culprit: oil breaks down the bond. Rubbing your eyes, sleeping face-down in the pillow, very hot steam and saunas in the first 24 hours, and skipping your daily brush all take their toll too.
Your own lash cycle matters as well. Some clients naturally shed more in certain seasons, and that is completely normal.
what makes a set last
Keep lashes dry for the first 24 hours. Cleanse them every day with an oil-free lash cleanser. Brush them through each morning. And let a certified technician do the work: correct isolation (one extension to one natural lash) and the right weight for your lashes are what keep a set in place.
when to book your infill
Book your infill within 4 weeks, while at least 40% of your set remains. Your technician removes grown-out extensions and fills the gaps so your set looks full again. Leave it longer and you will need a new full set rather than an infill.
